Government Disinvestment and Asset Monetisation Receipts Cross ₹45,000 Crore in FY26

The government collected ₹45,306.05 crore through disinvestment and asset monetisation during FY26, surpassing the Revised Estimate of ₹33,837 crore under Miscellaneous Capital Receipts, as per The Business Standard news report.
The figures were disclosed by Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
Asset Monetisation Forms Larger Share
Of the FY26 collection, ₹28,420.49 crore came from asset monetisation, while disinvestment contributed ₹16,885.56 crore.
Disinvestment receipts were higher than the ₹10,163 crore recorded in FY25, although they remained below the ₹35,294 crore collected in FY23.
FY27 Receipts Reach ₹59,083 Crore
The government has set a target of ₹80,000 crore under Miscellaneous Capital Receipts for FY27.
So far in FY27, collections under this category have reached ₹59,083 crore, including around ₹6,367 crore from asset monetisation.
Disinvestment Drives Current-Year Collections
Disinvestment accounted for approximately ₹52,716 crore of the FY27 receipts so far.
The amount includes Offer for Sale transactions involving Central Bank of India, Coal India, LIC, NHPC, NLC India, General Insurance Corporation of India, Indian Railway Finance Corporation and Cochin Shipyard.
It also includes the strategic disinvestment of Indian Medicines Pharmaceutical Corporation Ltd.
5-Year Disinvestment Trend
Disinvestment receipts stood at ₹16,886 crore in FY26, compared with ₹10,163 crore in FY25, ₹16,507 crore in FY24, ₹35,294 crore in FY23 and ₹13,534 crore in FY22.
The FY26 figure therefore marked an increase over the previous year, while remaining below the FY23 level.

Conclusion
The government's FY26 collections from disinvestment and asset monetisation exceeded the revised estimate by over ₹11,469 crore. FY27 receipts have already reached ₹59,083 crore against the ₹80,000 crore budgeted under Miscellaneous Capital Receipts.
