The BSE SENSEX Index opened the September 21, 2026, session with a stable outlook at 74,535.19 and registered an intraday low of 74,454.18 soon after opening. The index later touched an intraday high of 74,879.93.

As the session progressed, continuous buying pressure emerged, pushing the index up by over 420 points from its intraday low to touch a high of 74,879.93. 

At 12:22 PM, the index was trading at 74,819.75, up by 524.79 points or 0.71% on September 21, 2026.

The market breadth of BSE SENSEX remained strong during the afternoon session on September 21, 2026, as buying interest was widely spread across frontline counters, leaving the majority of its key constituents trading in the green while select telecom, port, and IT stocks faced localized distribution. 

Top Gainers and Losers of BSE SENSEX Index on September 21, 2026 

The market index recorded mixed movements across its major constituents during the session. Among the gainers, UltraTech Cement (ULTRACEMCO) led the positive traction with a Last Traded Price (LTP) of 11,107.25, gaining 437.25 points (+4.10%). 

It was followed by HCL Technologies (HCLTECH), which rose by 32.75 points (+2.65%) to an LTP of 1,270.75. 

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (SUNPHARMA) maintained a strong positive bias, trading at an LTP of 1,876.80 with a value increase of 41.30 points (+2.25%), while Asian Paints (ASIANPAINT) rounded out the top gainers at an LTP of 2,458.40, ticking up by 53.40 points (+2.22%). 

Conversely, selling pressure was observed among the top losers evaluated strictly by percentage drop from the data sheet. Bharti Airtel (BHARTIARTL) dropped the sharpest in percentage terms, falling by 31.60 points (-1.69%) to an LTP of 1,834.40. 

Infosys (INFY) also faced notable corrections, shedding 12.70 points (-1.21%) to reach an LTP of 1,037.45. 

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (ADANIPORTS) lost value, decreasing by 14.90 points (-0.83%) to trade at an LTP of 1,786.10, while Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) slid by 2.20 points (-0.81%) to cross an LTP of 267.80.
