Nifty 50 Index Gains Ground Above 23,400 Mark in Intraday Trade on September 21, 2026

The Nifty 50 Index opened the September 21, 2026, session with a stable outlook and registered an intraday low of 23,314.80 soon after opening. The index later touched an intraday high of 23,434.05.

The Nifty 50 index opened slightly below its previous close at the 23,330.20 level and registered an intraday low of 23,314.80. 

As the session progressed, continuous buying pressure emerged, pushing the index up by over 80 points from its intraday low to touch a high of 23,434.05. 

At 12:14 PM, the index was trading at 23,417.60, up by 71.20 points or 0.30% on September 21, 2026. 

Advance Decline Ratio of Nifty 50 Index 

The market breadth of Nifty 50 remained strong during the afternoon session on September 21, 2026, as buying interest was widely spread, leaving 34 constituents in the green, while only 16 stocks traded in the red. 

Top Gainers and Losers of Nifty 50 Index on September 21, 2026 

The market index recorded mixed movements across its major constituents during the session. Among the gainers, HDFC Life Insurance (HDFCLIFE) led the positive traction with a Last Traded Price (LTP) of 562.85, gaining 11.90 points (+2.16%). 

It was followed by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (SUNPHARMA), which rose by 38.90 points (+2.12%) to an LTP of 1,876.20. 

SBI Life Insurance (SBILIFE) maintained a strong positive bias, trading at an LTP of 1,765.00 with a value increase of 34.00 points (+1.96%), while ITC Limited (ITC) rounded out the top gainers at an LTP of 267.25, ticking up by 4.95 points (+1.89%). 

Conversely, selling pressure was observed among the top losers, Bharti Airtel (BHARTIARTL) dropped the sharpest in percentage terms, falling by 60.40 points (-3.19%) to an LTP of 1,832.90. 

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (ADANIPORTS) also faced notable corrections, shedding 37.60 points (-2.06%) to reach an LTP of 1,786.40. 

Wipro (WIPRO) lost value, decreasing by 2.61 points (-1.56%) to trade at an LTP of 164.22, while Infosys (INFY) slid by 13.70 points (-1.30%) to cross an LTP of 1,037.70.

Conclusion 

On Monday, September 21, 2026, the Nifty 50 Index traded with minor gains of 0.30% by afternoon. Despite downward pressure from top telecom, port, and IT constituents like Bharti Airtel and Wipro, the overall market sentiment remained firm, heavily supported by key insurance, pharmaceutical, and FMCG constituents.
