SPML Infra Share Price Surges Over 5% After Its Proprietary 104.4 kWh BESS Battery Pack Clears Global Testing

SPML Infra has reached a key stage in its Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) plans after its proprietary 104.4 kWh battery pack completed a set of international certification and testing requirements. The battery has been developed using the company's own intellectual property as SPML works to build capabilities for India's energy storage market.
The development moves the company's BESS plans closer to commercial deployment, while its manufacturing and integration setup is being developed in Pune, Maharashtra.
Battery Pack Completes Key International Tests
The battery pack has completed requirements under UL9540A, IEC 62619, IEC 63056, IEC 60730, IEC 61000-6-2, IEC 61000-6-4 and UN38.3.
The testing covers areas such as thermal runaway safety, battery performance, functional safety, electromagnetic compatibility and transportation safety.
SPML Builds BESS Capabilities In Pune
SPML is setting up BESS manufacturing and integration capabilities in Pune, covering battery pack assembly, engineering, system integration and large-scale project execution.
The company said developing the battery under its own intellectual property gives it greater control over the product and its future development. It is also working to localise key BESS engineering and technology capabilities in India.
Commercial Deployment Moves Closer
Abhinandan Sethi, Managing Director of SPML Infra, said the successful testing provides validation of the safety and engineering foundations of the company's battery pack. He said SPML aims to build an integrated Indian energy storage platform covering product development, manufacturing, system integration and project execution.
SPML sees BESS applications in renewable energy integration, grid balancing, peak-load management and grid reliability. The company said the completed certification and testing represent another step towards commercialising its technology and manufacturing platform.
